Totally Relaxing , Says it All
This absolutely gorgeous Cottage is one of three properties on 5
acres of tropical gardens. Situated on a ridge overlooking the Royal
Westmoreland Golf Course, with panoramic views to the ocean.
The cooling trade winds are appreciated all year round.
Ideal for those who enjoy total peace and quiet, yet just a mile
away from everything else that you could possibly want.
Very nicely and comfortably furnished, the kitchen is more than
fully equipped. Plenty of bed linen and towels. Laundry room on site.
Cable TV/stereo/CD telephone and internet access.
Within walking distance to Sugar Hill and Royal Westmoreland for
tennis and golf, lovely country walks and wild life, it is not
uncommon to see monkeys frolicking along the way.
The nearest beach, Heron Bay is 1 mile down the hill. This is a
quiet bay, safe bathing for young children, and coral reefs for
snorkeling. For the more adventurous Folkestone Marine Park is a
short walk along the beach. There is also horse back riding, water
sports and scuba diving. We provide snorkeling equipment, beach
towels, chairs and umbrellas.
1-1/2 miles to Holetown for shopping, Banks, restaurants and nightly
entertainment.
The large swimming pool in the grounds is shared with the other two
properties. Each property is very private.
There are comfortable loungers to sunbathe and relax, also a pool
bar equipped with refridgerator for guests use, poolside dining
facilities and BBQ grills.
Distance from the Airport: 26 km
Airport transfers and car rental available at reasonable rates.

Summary: The Gingerbread Cottage was better than expected. Close to Holetown but secluded enough to truly enjoy the serenity and beauty of the breathtaking views from the sun porch. My husband and I spent a great deal of time on the porch enjoying the horses in the paddock below or an occasional monkey climbing on the fence or a parrot flying by. The cottage was simply stated, but freshly painted white and the linens smelled so fresh. A beautiful breeze comes through the windows and is so tranquil and never any bugs. The pool was refreshing, clean and always quiet. The homeowners are delightful. Always there if we needed something but never intrusive. This was my first trip to Barbados and it is by far my favorite island and I look forward to going back. I truly cleansed my soul at the Gingerbread Cottage.

Summary: We loved it and would both recommend to friends and we would return. Close to all we would want on the West side (beaches, shops, etc.). The view of the countryside is stunning, we loved watching the horses in the paddock and the monkeys in the woods. We loved having a car to get around with. Great vacation.

Summary: My husband and I stayed at Westerlee in their Gingerbread House and were delighted with the premises. The property is lush, with plants and flowers, overlooks a fenced pasture, and farther beyond the ocean. There's a pretty pool with a patio furniture, grill, and refrigerator for beverages. The Gingerbread house has a lovely wrap-around covered porch also equipped with furniture, hammock and a small table and chairs. Westerlee is about a 6 minute car ride from Holetown with many beautiful beaches and restaurants.

Summary: My family thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Gingerbread cottage. The cottage itself is very charming, with great views over the hillside and out to sea. We loved all the french doors leading out to the wrap around porch, where we enjoyed our morning coffee and the sound of birds every morning. The grounds are lovely, with beautiful tropical trees and flowers. The pool is close by and our teenage sons had a great time playing in it. We also used the grill by the pool for grilling some delicious fish we bought at a local fish market. The owners provided snorkeling equipment and beach chairs which we made much use of on Barbados' beautiful beaches. All in all, this property is a relaxing home base and an excellent value. We highly recommend it!
